How to Fix a Weak Wireless Connection from a Desktop PC

A Cisco-Valet Plus Wireless Router

There are a couple ways to remedy a weak wireless connection to or from a desktop PC:

The slow clean, "I like to spend some time with my computer" method

If the desktop is running an internal wireless card, It's time for an upgrade to a usb adapter. If it is running a USB adapter and it's slow, it's probably running Wireless G. *Make sure you have a free USB port open before you purchase. It's time to upgrade both the USB adapter and the wireless router to Wireless N.

What You Need:

1. A Desktop PC running Windows XP or higher

2. A Cisco-Linksys AE1000 High-Performance Wireless-N Adapter

3. A Cisco-Valet Plus Wireless Router

The Quick and Dirty Plug and Play Method

1. A Desktop PC, or any other electronic device you want on your home network (TV's, Home Theatre, Etc.)

2. The Linksys PLTK300 PowerLine Network Kit

This option uses a home's power outlet system as a network. To add another device to the network, all that is needed is to plug the new gadget in.
